The Challenges
Biodiversity and ecological engineering: key levers for sustainable real estate
Faced with biodiversity erosion and accelerated land artificialization, the French construction and real estate sector must rethink its practices. Every development operation – whether for housing, infrastructure, or business zones – modifies natural environments, fragments habitats, and affects ecological continuities. In this context, integrating biodiversity and ecological engineering into projects becomes a necessity.
Ecological engineering relies on nature-based solutions. It enables the design of projects with high ecological value, leveraging natural dynamics and ecosystem functionalities. Green and blue infrastructures, alternative stormwater management, brownfield renaturation, and functional greening are all levers that contribute to territorial resilience while enhancing the quality of life.
This approach, at the intersection of naturalist expertise, engineering, and urban planning, also addresses increasing regulatory requirements: the Climate and Resilience Law, Net Zero Artificialization (ZAN), and the Avoid–Reduce–Offset (ERC) sequence. It also forms part of a project enhancement strategy, through labels such as BiodiverCity® or Effinature.
To successfully navigate this transition, support from biodiversity experts is essential. Our role is to identify ecological challenges, co-construct solutions adapted to the local context, and ensure their integration from the design phase. More than a constraint, biodiversity thus becomes a driver of innovation, serving a more sustainable, vibrant, and ecosystem-connected real estate sector.
Our Solutions
Depending on the requirements, we deploy our qualified engineers holding CBCP (Certified Building Commissioning Professional) certification to support project owners across various building typologies (offices, hospitality, collective housing, public institutions, etc.) and throughout all stages of a building's construction/renovation:

When acoustic design embraces biodiversity.
In the shadow of climate change challenges, a topic far less publicized than global warming could nonetheless make significant noise. This concerns the sonic state of our planet, particularly that of the living world. Silence on Earth does not exist; noise is constantly heard. While sometimes a source of nuisance, noise is primarily a carrier of information, as surprising as it is varied.
