/ Certification, a guarantee of quality /

Operating certification is a process for assessing a building's performance in terms of energy consumption, comfort and durability, with a view to awarding it a label. Obtaining such certification has become a guarantee of quality for building owners and developers.

This enables us to anticipate risks and malfunctions in the building, as certification involves carrying out an in-depth assessment. It increases technical knowledge of the certified building. Technical aspects, health and safety issues for occupants, integration of and respect for biodiversity in their operations: many factors are taken into account.

Operating certification is also a way for owners to ensure the longevity of their investment. It also guarantees good working conditions for users, and thus enhances the attractiveness of a building, by attesting to the optimization of its operation.

A growing number of labels are used to assess a building's environmental performance. The most widespread are the BREEAM and HQE certifications. The prerequisite is always compliance with current regulations.

/BREEAM /

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is a British standard. It is the most widely used internationally.

It is awarded after an analysis covering a wide range of areas, from energy management and access to sustainable transport, to water management, waste recovery and building pollution levels. Points are awarded for each criterion, resulting in an overall score.

There are several versions of BREEAM certification, each tailored to a particular type of building or use, such as housing, office buildings, educational establishments, shopping centers and so on. BREEAM-certified buildings can be assessed on five levels: Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent or Outstanding.

/HQE /

HQE (high environmental quality) certifications are mainly used in France. There are two types: HQE Bâtiment and HQE Bâtiment Durable, each with three types of certification for Construction, Renovation and Operation.

HQE Building

The HQE Building family covers a wide range of sustainable development topics:

  • energy management,
  • water,
  • carbon emissions,
  • the health of occupants...

HQE Sustainable Building

The HQE Bâtiment Durable family goes further, adding circular economy, biodiversity, inclusive design and life-cycle analysis dimensions.

This makes it particularly suitable for companies with a strong ESG focus.

HQE certification has 4 levels:

  • High-performance,
  • High performance,
  • Excellent,
  • Exceptional.

/ Sinteo expertise /

Sinteo supports you in your certification process. The first step is an opportunity study. We study your buildings to determine whether the prerequisites have been met and what type of certification they are eligible for.

We advise you on the actions to be taken to ensure that the building achieves its full potential, and help you draw up the specifications. Once certification has been obtained, we will monitor the process and assist you with annual follow-up audits.

Obtaining a certificate is not the end of our mission: certification must be part of a concerted, continuous improvement process, in line with the CSR objectives of the certification holder and the needs of the various stakeholders.

Certification should be seen as a tool and an approach to help meet the objectives of the European Taxonomy and the Decree on Commercial Buildings, and to give concrete form to an ESG policy at building level.
